River Vez Spa

Vez rive spa

The Vez river SPA project is a boutique wellness oasis designed to foster an open and inclusive environment, harmonizing with the natural and historical context of the Vez River and its watermill, while remaining mindful of its ecological footprint.

Historic barn methods and local stone and granite inform the design. Windcatcher, adaptive shading, locally sourced materials, and a green roof are integrated to minimize environmental impact.

The stunning environment is undeniable and celebrated, but its beauty comes with a vulnerability to wildfires, and extra care and effort are placed on mitigating exposure.

Openness and connection

Maximize view on surrounding nature, beach and water wheel. Weather permitting, ability to open the facade to the adjacent natural pool.

Green roof

Enhances building insulation, supports local biodiversity, manages rainwater runoff. Creates natural habitat space and reduces temperature fluctuations.

Well-insulated with low thermal mass regulates indoor temperature, does not retain or pass the heat load of the sun during summers, keeps warmth inside during winters.

High indoor ceiling space improves ventilation and comfort.

Windcatcher

Enhances stack effect, improving natural airflow, cellar's high thermal mass acts as a thermal buffer, moderating temperature swings.

Enhance stack effect for natural ventilation. Warm air rises and exits via windcatcher chimney. Passive indoor temperature regulation, lowers cost of airconditioning and fan operation.

Accessibility and inclusivity

To ensure that everyone, regardless of ability, can fully experience and benefit from the SPA's wellness offerings.

Adaptive shading

To maximize outside views while minimizing heat load through strategic adaptability of the shading through the seasons.
